Award-Winning Performing Songwriter
"Definitely quit your day job!" - David Crosby
"Colvin has fashioned a series of thoughtful, tuneful songs that invite repeat spins." - The Washington Post
"Forsaking spiffy studio effects in favor of rootsy rock and real instruments, Colvin fashions an album that Lucinda Williams would be proud of. Simply put, she can hit a note without batting an eye, something nine-tenths of the coffee shop set would sell their tambourines for." - Splendid Magazine
"Soaring vocals embrace key phrases for one moment, then drive with heartfelt passion the next. Ranging from reflective to playful to poignant, Carey is an artful songwriter who draws you into her world with grace, humor, and panache." Richard Fox, WCUW-FM, Worcestser, MA
August 2026: Carey's been back in the studio! It's been over 20 years since Carey stepped away from recording her second CD after choosing to devote herself to both raising her children and helping her parents through the end of their lives. She's recorded some new vocals and most of the CD is now mixed and she's excited to (finally!) be finishing the darned thing! There were many times over the years that involved sitting on the kitchen floor in tears because of the delays, but the time invested in her family was worth every second. Family first.
February 2023: Carey was diagnosed with breast cancer in the summer of 2022 and after surgery and treatment has an excellent prognosis. She was asked to record one of her songs for the non-profit organization Cancer Can Rock and also participated in an interview with CCR founder and producer Jim Ebert. Videos of both can be watched on the Music page. Get those mammograms done!
