When in the DC/VA/MD area, Carey and Granger perform with The Carey Colvin Band.  With a mix of electric, acoustic, and percussive music, they are guaranteed to touch the rhythm of your soul.  Lead singer/guitarist Carey Colvin is known for her warm, passionate vocals and award-winning songwriting.  Bassist/lead singer Granger Helvey's precision bass playing is the backbone of the music, and his strong, agile vocals will give you chills.   Lead guitarist Mike Kropotkin adds his versatility to the music with his top-notch playing skills on both electric and acoustic guitar.  Kirby Yarbrough provides the crowning touch and the heartbeat of the band with his fluid percussion and expertise on the drum kit.  A favorite on the fair/festival scene, The Carey Colvin Band will leave you smiling!

Granger Helvey
Nominated for Wammie™ Awards for five consecutive years  (1998-2001) for Rock-Rock/Pop Male Vocalist, and in 2001 as Rock-Rock/Pop Instrumentalist, Granger Helvey is noted for his strong, agile singing voice and musical expertise.  As bass player and vocal/musical arranger for Carey Colvin Band, his precision bass playing is the backbone of the music.  In high demand as a studio musician, he has performed on several CDs including David A. Alberding's Wayback, Colleen Shanley's Let's Go For That Ride, Jerry Bresee's Lifeline, and Pam Steinfeld's Open Hands.  He also appears on powerhouse rocker Mack Fowler's self-titled debut CD, singing lead and backing vocals and playing bass.  Granger is a former member of Back Street Rhythm Band, The Toasters, and The Wingnuts.

Mike Kropotkin
Lead guitarist Mike Kropotkin adds an electric sound to the music with his top-notch playing skills.  He most recently played in the DC area with the classic-rock cover band Harmless Prank and previously played the New Jersey college circuit and the New York City bar scene.  His influences include rock, blues, R&B and fusion and include guitarists like Jeff Beck, The Hellecasters, Robbin Ford and other "strange" guitar music.

Kirby Yarbrough
Kirby provides the crowning touch and the heartbeat of the band with his fluid percussion and expertise on the drum kit.  Besides performing with Carey Colvin Band, he recently joined Granger Helvey as an instrumentalist on Colleen Shanley's CD, Let's Go For That Ride, Jerry Bresee's Lifeline, and again on Mack Fowler's CD.  A former member of Smokehouse and Tupelo Cowboy, Kirby continues to pursue new forms of drumming and has been known to involve the audience, so be prepared!
